First RNC Jail Sentence Given: 2 months
From Dave Mahoney's support blog:
Today Dustin was sentenced to 60 days and 5 years probation. He also has to pay a large amount in restitution. He plead guilty to criminal damage to property (felony) for smashing a window during the RNC and was not permitted to return at a later date to serve his time.
Dave: "I got to know Dustin after the RNC due to our similar situations, he is from California and has been stuck here like myself since then. He is one of my favorite people that I have met in the states, kind at heart and with a genuine compassion for the earth and those around him. His band, 'Abandon ship' fast became one of my favorites here in Minneapolis and he has entertained so many, it broke my heart to watch him led away by sheriffs in the courtroom, he deserves our respect, solidarity and support to the fullest extent!".
Dave filmed abandon ship during one of their shows at the 'Arise' infoshop in Minneapolis a few months back:

Letters
Dustin is serving his sentence at the Ramsey county correctional facility, several miles east of downtown St. Paul.
Letters would be much appreciated. All mail will be opened before being delivered and illegal items will be removed. Illegal items include money and Polaroid photographs, as well as just about most things. Letters with glue, stickers, tape, ribbons, glitter, stains, lipstick, and other fun things won't be delivered. But you can use markers, crayons, and colored pencils, and you can send photographs no larger than 4" x 6".
Here's the address:

Phone call from Dustin
I just spoke to our friend! He is doing well. He is housed in a large dorm with twenty other inmates who he said are pretty nice. It is loud, with TV and movies playing a lot of the time, he said, but 'better than the LEC'- the downtown Law Enforcement Center. They eat crappy food in a cafeteria, and only get two meals on the weekends, but he didn't have too much to say about it. I get the impression that he doesn't expect much out of jail nutrition. He said the place if overcrowded and that people in some places are sleeping on floors. He doubts he will end up working because the work programs are all full. They got to go to the gym today where they could play basketball and 'exercise', Dustin did push-ups and stretched.
Overall he said he is doing well and wants people to know he loves them. He wants his sentencing to be publicized and feels that he is being punished for politics, for the overall situation in the Twin Cities. He feels that Judge Flynn had her mind made up before anyone walked into the court room on the 5th.
He said he is scheduled to be released on March 12th at 7am. Breakfast party!!
